A GACP certificate that a weak operation and a strong one can obtain in the same way is no signal.

In 2001 the Nobel Prize in economics went to three people who studied markets where the seller knows more than the buyer. One of them, Michael Spence, showed that a signal only tells buyers something if it is harder to get for those who lack the quality.

A GACP certificate that a weak operation and a strong one can obtain in the same way is no signal. Buyers then price every grower at the average, and the one who invested in a real quality system pays for the shortcuts of the others.

The growers I'd back share their batch records, their deviations with how they closed them and their trends across harvests, before the buyer asks.

Buyers, which record do you ask for first?

Would you rather talk it through first?
